Personality: There are two critical sides to Amaya's personality, both of which define her in different ways: the General and the Aunt.

The first is who she is to the outside world. She is Katolis' greatest defender and military mind, a seasoned warrior who puts an emphasis on maintaining personal and professional excellence in everything she does. Being in front of Amaya's sword is not an enviable place to be - she has honed herself to perfection. But to be more than just a sword requires marrying strength to intelligence - the end result being a personality that is bold, determined - but willing to bend when presented with new realities and information.

The word 'grit' also applies, because she rose by ability, earning her position and maintaining it through her skills as a warrior. Every day starts with a workout (and a healthy breakfast, of course), and her personality maintains an emphasis on keeping herself at that sharp edge. Namely because lives are always depending on her actions. This side of Amaya's personality is extremely responsible, putting others first and otherwise acting as an ideal servant of the people ought to. This extends to a certain amount of insouciance to her superiors when she believes them to be in the wrong - her sense of duty (and her emphasis on thinking) ensure she does not take orders blindly.

But then there is the other side of her personality: the loving family woman. Amaya, away from duty, is extremely caring and warm to those she cares about. Her family comes first and foremost. Especially since the death of her sister, her love and care for her nephews remains a top priority - she never holds back from them...and is clearly very aware of how much of their late mother's role she has to fulfill herself, as best she can.

The end result is a woman of conviction and pure heart - demonstrated quite literally when she became the only human to endure the Sun Elves' Sunforge.

Key themes: Her key themes, personally, are her relationship to her family and coming to a new understanding of the world around her. In essence, change.

The loss of her sister, the orphaning of her nephews, left a deep scar - with her struggling to provide them with some semblance of a family life despite her position. It takes a lot for Amaya to overcome her initial feelings towards Elves as a result - their Dragon King being the one who killed her sister.

But overcome it she does - even going so far as to be developing nascent feelings for one by canon's (current) end.

Facing challenges, she will find a way to overcome - but intelligently.

Main Motivation: A good breakfast. Not really, but protecting and seeing her loved ones thrive. (Part of that being sure they eat right and well whenever she can make them.)

Skills: Amaya is your baseline-level human - but don't let that fool you. She has trained her body to perfection, and it has been speculated that her deafness gives her a better situational awareness than most other commanders. In hand-to-hand combat she is nearly unstoppable, using her shield as an offensive weapon as much as a defensive one. Her abilities with a sword are phenomenal - on a par with superhuman beings like elves. Combine this with an unstoppable will and you have someone who will always punch far out of her weight class.

Add to that a superb tactical sense, and you have the General tasked with the kingdom's most important missions.

Item: Her sword and shield, considering they function as a paired system and are rather key parts of her. Armor can be replaced - though she'll be very upset about losing that even for a while.
